Alan “Ollie” Gelfand invented the “no hands” vertical front side air, or “ollie air.” In the Summer of 1980 the “AGM” (Alan Gelfand Model) was released. Following on with the Bones Brigade military theme, Alan chose a tank for the subject of this graphic design, illustrated by V.C. Johnson. The Ollie Tank was one of the first decks to receive the oval dragon top graphic.
Hailing from Denmark, in 1989, Nicky joined Powell Peralta. Spending lots of time on the European tours, he did around 40-60 demos a year in Europe with different skaters from the team including Mike McGill, Steve Caballero, Tony Hawk, Lance Mountain, Ray Barbee, Frankie Hill, Ray Underhill, Bucky Lasek, Tommy Toiminen and more. His graphic was drawn by Sean Cliver, inspired from a book on Polynesian art. Custom top graphic.

As part of the cease and desist series, this graphic was released in response to some advertising Powell had going on, belittling the little guys. Skaters immediately loved the spoof graphics Blind came up with and this probably helped them on their way to the Big Leagues.
In the late 1980’s, Powell Peralta had an established vert team that was maxed out with the likes of Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero, Mike McGill and Lance Mountain. In an effort to expand the companies pro roster to include the growing “Street-Style” market, they began adding new “street” pros. After Tommy Guerrero it was Mike Vallely, then Ray Barbee.
The fourth Powell-Peralta Street pro to receive a deck model was Long Beach local, Steve Saiz. His Native American “totem pole” graphic was the second illustrated by newly acquired artist Sean Cliver in 1989. Saiz continued to skate for Powell-Peralta into the early 1990’s until his knee unfortunately gave out.
